Last week, nVent was proud to host an event with the National Association of Black Accountants Inc. (NABA) at our headquarters. The event focused on bringing students real-world experiences with mergers and acquisition (M&A) activity. Forty students and their chaperones visited nVent headquarters to hear from and ask questions of finance, marketing and strategy leaders. Following the morning of presentations and Q&A, students traveled to Anoka, Minnesota to visit our largest manufacturing plant and see our manufacturing processes in action.
This jam-packed day of hands-on educational experiences was a part of a NABA program called the Accelerated Career Awareness Program (ACAP), focused on closing opportunity gaps for high school students pursuing careers in accounting, finance and related business fields. Partnerships with leading Minnesota businesses like nVent are crucial to providing actionable and hands-on opportunities for students.
At the end of the week, after hearing from many Minnesota business leaders, students delivered case study presentations focused on mergers and acquisitions. Winners of the case competition received a college scholarship. Since launching our partnership in early 2025, nVent's work with NABA demonstrates our commitment to talent development, early-career pipelines and building awareness of nVent as an employer of choice.
"We are excited to partner with the local NABA chapter and support the Accelerated Career Awareness Program," said Felix Brobbey, nVent Director of Risk Management and Insurance. "Hosting these students at our office and manufacturing facility was an energizing experience for our team. It's important that we invest in programs like NABA to support students in our community and build future leaders in our industry."
“Partnering with nVent for the first time was an incredible addition to our ACAP experience,” said Alexis Martin, ACAP Twin Cities Director. “It gave our scholars the opportunity to explore a new company with the chance to see both the corporate headquarters and the manufacturing plant. That kind of hands-on exposure is invaluable. Partnerships like these are so important because our program serves BIPOC high school students who often don’t get to step foot inside these kinds of environments. Having the opportunity to walk through a company like nVent, meet professionals who look like them, and ask real-time questions helps make career possibilities feel more tangible and achievable. These experiences plant seeds that truly last a lifetime, and we’re so grateful to our corporate partners who help make that possible.”
Through its programming, NABA helps its members bridge the gap between education and professional success for Black professionals in accounting, finance and business. nVent is excited to continue partnering with NABA to support its mission to engage, inspire and empower Black students and professionals.
